Citrus Gin Scones

This delicious citrus scones perfect for brunch! The sweet glaze topping features our Black Fox Gin #3. A tasty addition to any table.


2 1/4 cups flour
1/4 cup + 1 Tbsp sugar, divided
4 tsp orange zest
2 tsp lemon zest
1 1/2 tsp lime zest
3 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
6 Tbsp cold butter, cubed
1 large egg
1/4 cup Black Fox Gin #3
1/4 cup buttermilk
1 Tbsp melted butter

Glaze Ingredients

1/4 cup confectioners sugar
1 1/2 tsp lime zest
1 Tbsp lime juice
1 Tbsp Black Fox Gin #3


Preheat oven to 400ºF. Add flour, 1/4 cup sugar, citrus zest, baking powder, and salt to the bowl of a food processor; pulse until blended. Add cold butter and pulse until the butter is the size of peas. Transfer to a large bowl. In a small bowl, whisk egg, buttermilk, and gin until blended. Stir into crumb mixture until just moistened. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; knead gently 6-8 times. Pat dough into a 6” circle and cut into 8 wedges. Place wedges on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with the remaining tablespoon of sugar. Bake 14-18 mins or until golden brown.

Meanwhile, in a small bowl, mix glaze ingredients until smooth. Remove scones from the oven and brush immediately with the glaze. Serve warm.
