Secret Garden

Created by the Prairie Research Kitchen at Red River College, this refreshing cocktail combines Black Fox Cucumber Gin with fresh basil and a spicy white pepper syrup.


1.5 oz Black Fox Gin #7
1 oz White pepper syrup
0.75 oz fresh lime juice
10-12 basil leaves
4 oz Soda water

White Pepper Syrup

1 cup water
1 cup white sugar
1 tbsp white peppercorns
1/2 tsp ground white pepper

Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, whisking to dissolve sugar. Reduce to a simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Allow syrup to cool before straining.


In a collins glass or highball glass, add basil and muddle until fragrant. Add gin, syrup, and lime juice, stirring briefly to separate basil. Fill glass with ice, top with soda and stir in an upwards direction. Garnish with cucumber, lime zest, mint, and pink peppercorns. Serve with a cocktail pick.
