Story
The Moment
There’s a brief stretch of the season when everything starts to feel lighter again. The jackets get left by the door, the evenings linger a little longer, and the garden begins to wake up in colour.
The Rhubarb Spritz belongs right there—in that in-between moment when spring is turning into summer and you’re not quite ready to rush anything.
Bright, gently tart, and softly sparkling, it’s the kind of drink that doesn’t ask for a plan. Just a bit of sunshine, a good place to sit, and someone to share it with.
The Spirit Connection
At the heart of this spritz is Black Fox Canadian Gin, bringing structure and clarity while allowing the rhubarb to shine with its natural brightness.
Crafted from spicy triticale, handpicked calendula flowers, and our own farm-grown rhubarb rooted in our Canadian prairie soil, our gin is distilled with a careful blend of fifteen fruits, flowers, and spices. Its crisp profile gives the cocktail its backbone.
Together, they feel rooted and refreshing at the same time—like the season itself: grounded in the soil, but reaching toward something lighter.
Glassware & Garnish
Glassware: Wine glass or large highball. Garnish: Fresh rhubarb ribbon or a lemon twist.
Make It Your Own
This is a forgiving cocktail—the kind that welcomes small changes depending on what’s in your kitchen or garden:
- Swap sparkling wine for soda water: for a lighter version
- Add a splash of elderflower: for floral sweetness
- Use a mix of rhubarb and strawberry: for a softer seasonal twist
- Batch it for gatherings: by multiplying ingredients (add sparkling element just before serving)
- Make it non-alcoholic: by replacing gin with a botanical zero-proof spirit or extra soda with citrus
However you pour it, it stays rooted in that bright, early-season feeling.
Serve & Pair
Best enjoyed when the day is still deciding what it wants to be.
Perfect for:
- Long patio afternoons
- Garden gatherings
- Pre-dinner drinks with friends
- Celebrating the first warm weekend of the year
- Listening to live music as the sun goes down
Pairs well with:
- Light cheeses
- Fresh salads
- Grilled vegetables
- Anything shared outdoors, passed around slowly
And if you happen to be visiting the farm in rhubarb season, it’s the kind of drink that fits right in among the flowers.
